You have goals for your family. You have a desire to raise great kids and build a strong family – that runs deep! Know how I know? Because I do too! My name is Shelley Jefsen, this is A Family Meeting Blog, and I am here to say, “Yes! Yes, it is possible to raise great kids. Yes, it’s possible to have a strong family. And Yes, I am here to be your positive-yes-you-can voice in a culture that wants you to believe parenting has to be difficult and raising great kids is hopeless.”
After a painful youth, much hardship, and a lot of trials we don’t have time for right now, I decided when I got pregnant with my oldest son, I would not accept less than every good thing for my kids.
I “drew my line in the sand” and determined my kids would be different. They would serve, love, obey, and have a life that fulfilled them!
Shortage Of Supportive, Positive Parenting Resources.
Something about being pregnant for the first time draws all sorts of unwanted, negative comments from people. You know what I’m talking about, right? Things like:
- “you just wait… you’ll end up with an epidural!”
- “that’s nice you wanna breastfeed, but it’s so much easier to just let it dry up.”
- “having kids is fun until they start to talk.”
- “you won’t be so happy once the terrible two’s start.”
- “every kid throws a fit, it’s just the way it is.”
- “all kids fight, it’s just the way it is.”
What I never heard was, “If you want it to be great, it can be great!” So I resolved all those years ago to be the positive voice that says those words to you.
Current Shelley And Why It Matters To You
That was over a decade ago, and now, after 4 natural births (2 at home), 4 exclusively breastfed babies, 4 great kids (who never did go through terrible 2’s,) a strong marriage, a successful homeschool and a happily structured home, I know that what I set out to accomplish is not only possible, but available to any mom who is relentless enough to see it through.
I write in a candid, no-nonsense, cut-to-the-chase style, you’re gonna love!
